Transport Canada Halts iZEV Incentive Program: What It Means for You
iZEV Program Halted: What Penticton Drivers Need to Know
Penticton, BC – January 15, 2025
In a sudden announcement, Transport Canada has officially paused the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) program as of January 12, 2025. This decision follows the rapid exhaustion of the program's allocated funds, highlighting the incredible popularity of electric vehicles across Canada.
What This Means for Canadian Consumers
No new applications will be accepted. Only applications submitted and pre-approved by Transport Canada prior to January 12, 2025, will be honored.
Pending pre-approved applications remain eligible. Customers whose applications were approved before the pause will still receive their rebates, provided the vehicle meets all program requirements. Don't delay in securing your EV purchase!
No exceptions or extensions will be granted. Applications not pre-approved before the pause will not qualify for the rebate.
Other Incentive Programs Remain Active
While the iZEV program has paused, there's still excellent news! Consumers and businesses can still benefit from:
The Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) program, which remains available for commercial trucks and vans until March 31, 2026.
Various provincial and territorial incentive programs that continue to offer support for ZEV purchases.
